From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, this report:
St. Louis County police arrested six people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter, during a demonstration Thursday evening outside a forum on aging called by U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis.
Two of the people were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances, police say.
The forum drew an overflow crowd of several hundred to Bernard Middle School gym in south St. Louis County. Dozens of people, many carrying signs about the health care debate, were kept out because of the turnout. The back and forth between factions within the crowd created a carnival-like atmosphere inside and out between members of the movement opposing President Barack Obama’s policies and groups who came to show support for the president’s proposals.
So far so good, or not so good. Its a shame that these radical astroturfing rednecks continue to oppose Obama’s helath care plan. And the violence is getting out of hand. But wait, it gets worse:
Kenneth Gladney, 38, … said he was attacked by some of those arrested. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is Black, said one of his attackers, …used a racial slur against him before the attack.
So Garofalo was right all along. It’s raaaacism!!! The evil right wing raaacists are showing their true colors and these so-called town hall meetings are just forums for their venom. How long will our country put up with this nonsense?
Great story right? And we’ve even got video to back it up.
Ummm, wait a minute… you mean the Black man was attacked by…. a Black man?
A conservative Black man attacked by a Black member of the SEIU, the same union that Carnahan asked to show up? The same ones that Carnahan snuck into the townhall to provide need “cover” for him?
Mr. Gladney, you should have known better than to have defied the standard tropes of liberal mythology by having an independent, non-liberal point of view and even more by daring to show it. Mr. Gladney, you should know that by handing out ‘Don’t tread on me’ shirts, you were inviting on yourself all kinds of vitriol and scorn. How dare you have an opinion outside of the received dogma of the Democratic Party. You sir are an Uncle Tom. A race traitor! A cog in the machine of republican astroturf operations! And the White House has encouraged this action in order to corral folks like you back onto the plantation.
